I’ve illustrated and designed a lot of posters over the years, all of them for live venues.
Because the brief is often so wide, poster work is the best for throwing ideas together. Wall-to-wall fun times.
Imperfections can really make a piece and, while this one has been scanned and finished digitally, it’s all about the scuffs, wrinkles and wandering doodles.
This one mashes up a photo my Mum took of one of the most breathtaking skies the British countryside has ever seen with a photo I took of a balled up sheet of paper and, finally, a doodled bird that (maybe) became a crow.
This design also featured a first draft of the Plastic Bag font.
Sometimes you start drawing something and a darker edge pops up.
